And then there are Shards, found inside the chests of Torture Chambers, used to spend on weapon upgrades and more when you’re in the Dark Woods (I’ll touch on this in a moment).
It may be the same developer, but this isn’t the soothing afterlife of Spiritfarer anymore. 33 Immortals
Though I battled Lucifer three times with varying team sizes, I never beat that first overworld. I’m eager to try again and unlock the next map, Purgatorio, which maxes out at 22 players.
’ art style really shines: Lucifer is a big blue beast who feels ripped straight out of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
To stand a chance, you must farm monsters immediately. They drop dust, which fills your Dust Bubble and can be deposited at Dust Shrines to upgrade Attack, Vitality, or Empathy. Scattered across the map are Torture Chambers, high-risk combat trials with valuable loot—two Relic chests, one always open one requiring a key—that are limited to six players at a time.
It’s curious to see just how players of different skill levels and experience come together in groups. Even in the most organized parties that have formed non-verbal agreements (using a handy emote wheel) to focus on specific objectives, there’s that one player who is doing their own thing in a corner while hacking away at the wrong thing, and somehow, surviving to the end.
S to reach even more players.
How much more difficult will the second world, Purgatorio, be compared with Inferno? How badass can I make my weapons? What’s it like to run around hell with a beagle by your side? These are all exciting questions I’m looking forward to answering once 33 Immortals
is a unique approach to cooperative gaming that I didn’t realize I was going to enjoy as much as I did. I primarily enjoy single-player experiences where I’m free to suddenly drop without letting my party down – I’ve become an unreliable on-line raider with growing adult responsibilities that can pull me away at a moment’s notice.
casts players as condemned souls rebelling against divine judgment. Unlike traditional roguelikes that focus on solitary progression, this game drops you into a chaotic, ever-changing battlefield where teamwork isn’t just encouraged—it’s necessary for survival.
As the 33 Immortals Gameplay name probably already gave it away, dozens enter a single session, all hoping for the best drops and team-mates that might have their back when the going gets tough.
I was given the chance to take a crack at the game a week prior to the early access launch, giving me around six hours with the game split across multiple play sessions.
